Optimization of the milling process for aluminum honeycomb structures

The milling of aluminum honeycomb structures represents today an important scientific and technical research topic for many industrial applications: aerospace, aeronautic, automotive, naval. difficulties encountered when this type materials are linked to the small thickness walls constituting cells ductility material structure. cellular composite requires specific rigorous tools. In present work, a 3D numerical modeling process honeycombs has been developed using Abaqus Explicit software. effect parameters, such as spindle speed, tilt angle, depth cut, particularly investigated in terms cutting forces, surface integrity, chip morphology. To properly analyze optimize process, experimental validation was done through tests with different conditions. comparison between simulations shows that three-dimensional model correctly reproduces
